General Information |
THE PHYSICS SUPERMARKET |
The aim of the International Baccalaureate section is to provide teachers with a package of materials they can give to their Diploma students and make the transition to the new course as easy as possible. The materials can be divided into five categories:
A new syllabus for IB Physics is to be taught starting Aug/Sept 2007 for Northern Hemisphere schools and in Feb 2008 for Southern Hemisphere schools. There are new topics and new options. They are under development and their availability is indicated in the table below.
The package makes it clear to students what they need to know, explains what they need to know, gives them practice at applying their new knowledge and helps them 'learn their stuff'. The numbering system used makes it easy for a student to identify which sections of the notes and problem sheets relate to given sections of the study guides.
The files are Word documents designed to be printed on a 600 dpi laser printer. Two paper sizes are available, Letter or A4. They are available as photocopiable masters for use in the institution supplied with the files. You may alter files to suit your personal needs but you may not re-sell the new versions. There is a nominal charge for each file to help pay for the cost of the Web Site and the time spent producing the files. Files will be emailed.
The Study Guides are available to download as are samples of the other materials so you can become familiar with the style of presentation and make your own assessments.
The creation of these materials is very time consuming. At present all the materials for the SL and AHL courses have been completed.
